The concert of Europe is the term for the balance of power in Europe between the Congress of Vienna and WWI. It was intended to preserve peace and prevent one country from growing to dominate the others like Napoleonic France had done. It was not particularly successful in the first, although Europe was spared another widespread war until WWI. The last was more successful.
