I'm not exactly sure, as I'm also looking for the answer, but here's what I've got so far.... The main problem with a pictograph is that it's hard to find a picture to represent a half or quarter of a amount. Also, pictographs are very simple, and so are not the best to use for advanced math, or high school-like math since it looks like you didn't put as much effort into it. Not sure if this is enough to answer the question, but sorry, but it's all I've got so far. Hope it helps! :)

Generally when the DOW is high the economy is good, and when the DOW drops the economy isn't doing so well.
