The god of nature, Pan, had fallen in love with her. She talked so much that Pan never got a chance to speak with her. One day Hera came down from Olympus to find Zeus, who was flirting with the nymphs. Echo chatted with Hera for so long that she gave Zeus a chance to escape. Hera was so angry that she cursed Echo. Echo could then only repeat the words of others. She fell in love with Narcissus, and kept following him around in the woods, when Narcissus fell in love with his reflection and eventually died, Echo grieved until she died as well.
