Better than any of the other Greek women. They had to go through physical education, and were in charge of the house, had more freedom in speech than any other women in Greece, and could stand up,speak and even disagree with male Spartans, which was unheard of in ancient world.
For that time it was revolutionary but they acted as modern women do,nothing revolutionary..While other women in other cities acted in a way no modern women would, like slaves.
Sparta Woman had much more freedom the Athenian woman. Sparta woman also had a better education than Athens.
In Athens they were kept in purdah in the house rearing children and working in the house and garden. In Sparta, they were free to participate in daily life, play sports etc.
The women were free and part of civic life. In Athens women were kept in virtual purdah, running the home and raising children.
Helen of Sparta.
I believe it was Sparta that did not have women participate in public life.
life in athens was focused on education while life in sparta was focused on the military
Athens valued democracy, culture, and education, while Sparta focused on military strength, discipline, and obedience. Athenian society prioritized individual freedoms, intellectual pursuits, and artistic expression, whereas Spartan society emphasized militarism, physical fitness, and strict social hierarchy.
The opposite. The US is a life of milk and honey (cars and computers). Sparta was a life of bread and water.
they treat them like crapp :)
yes
Sparta full-time. Athens part-time.
Sparta was weakened because at Sparta there were only woman who could not fend for themselves against rivals close to Sparta and so their city fell horribly. At one time they were the most powerful city-state in Greece.
