The movie JAWS is about a killer shark that terrorizes the town of Amity on the week of July 4th. Pretty much here is how it goes.A drunk guy and a girl (they are not kids, probably about 20-25) run down to the beach at night. The drunk guy collapses while the girl jumps in and swims out. The girl suddenly feels a jolt on her leg and reaches down to see what happened. When she feels a nub of bone and tattered flesh she starts panicking and screaming. The shark, smelling the blood and feeling the panic soon comes back. The girl goes underwater to never be seen again. The drunk guy wakes up the next morning only to find the tattered remains of the girl. He calls the local police and Chief Martin Brody goes out with his assistant to take a look. When they spot the remains of the girl they go out to make signs that say "NO SWIMMING. BY ORDER OF THE AMITY P.D." Of course the town folks do not listen and the Mayor thinks Brody is jumping to conclusions about a killer shark to fast. But things change when a little boy goes out on a raft in the middle of the day on a crowded beach and gets attacked in front of all of the people. The boys mother puts up a reward for $3000 dollars to whoever catches the shark. That is when Quint shows up and says that he will find him for $3,000 dollars, but catch him and kill him for $10,000. The next day Marine Biologist Matt Hooper shows up to identify the shark and asks to see the remains of the girl. He measures the bite marks and then says it was definetly a shark. Soon afterward some people catch a Tiger Shark off the coast of the island. The people are thrilled that the shark is caught but Matt Hooper says that the bite marks on the girl do not match the sharks bite. He says that the only way to make sure is to cut it open, but the Mayor says no. That night Matt Hooper goes out with Chief Brody to cut the shark open. When they find nothing except some fish and a license plate they conclude that this is the wrong shark so they go on a boat to try to see the shark and catch it. Hooper goes in the water to take a peek and finds a sunken boat. He explores it only to find the remains of one of the most . The next day the beaches are open and it is the 4th of July. The crowded beach soon gets into the water while lifeguards patrol the beach and police patrol the water. When Chief Brody's son Michael tries to go in with his boat Chief Brody tells him to go into the pond. Soon afterward everyone sees a fin in the ocean and tries to scramble out. When two boys come out of the water holding a cardboard fin the people realize it was all a hoax. Soon though a lady yells "SHARK, SHARK. SHARK IN THE POND" over and over again.
