The Asian country divided by war during the 1960s is Vietnam. The conflict escalated into a full-scale war, resulting in the division of the country into North Vietnam, which was communist, and South Vietnam, which was supported by the United States and other anti-communist allies. The war, which lasted until 1975, had profound effects on the region and led to the eventual reunification of Vietnam under communist control.
