Why did Pancho Villa attack Columbus?

The Villistas needed supplies and the US Government had given official recognition to the Carranza Government and had begun an embargo of supplies to Villa. He stole 100 horses and mules from the US Army. Villa paid a man from Columbus for the arms. When he sent to collect the deal, not only the man refused to acknowledge the deal and provide the guns, but he threatened the Villa emissary with his life. When Villa was delivered the news, he got his man and went to collect. The rest is history...

Did Pancho Villa kill Catholic priests?

I recently heard from two women that were born in the 1920's that Pancho Villa and his group sought shelter in a Catholic Church. Only to find small rooms with many bones of babies. It angered Pancho Villa so much that he destroyed the statues and drove out the Priests. I was informed that for some time the Catholic Religion was not accepted in the region of Mexico for quite some time. Whether this is true or not. These elderly women seem to believe so. Whether he killed the priests or not I do not know. But if he went that far then I would think so. Maybe?

Why did the US forces enter Mexico in the early 1900s?

The US invaded Mexico first during the Occupation of Veracruz (April 12, 1914 - November 23, 1914) and then during a "punitive expedition" (March 14, 1916 - February 7, 1917) to catch Francisco "Pancho" Villa.

Was Pancho Villa ever in Tucson Arizona?

Yes Pancho Villa passed through Coyame Chihuahua (where both my parents were born.) My grandfather Don Salvador Navarrete told me when he was child Pancho Villa stopped in Coyame with a platoon of his rebel fighters. When the towns people saw Villa and his men riding into town, they were scared shittless and ran and hid intheir homes. (Coyame was and still is the county seat called "municipal" and on the side of the government) by the time Villa rode in, Coyame was a ghost town, except for some children playing outside one of wich was my grandfather. My grandpa told me that Villa asked him "Where are the men in this town?" my grandfather replied "my uncle Pilar is in the house" and Villa said "well then go call that cabron!" My grandpa says his uncle Pilar came out of the house fearing for his life. I dont know how long Villa stayed in Coyame or how often he made stop's in Coyame but all the old timers and many people in town have their Pancho Villa story's. So yes to answer your question Pancho Villa did set foot in the beautiful little town of Coyame many years ago. Thought I would share that story with you.
