Alfred Wegner
Pangea is the original super continent that broke up into the continents we know today by a process known as 'Continental Drift' proposed by a scientist named Wegener
It is known as the continental drift theory
Because it appeared to fit the facts as far as they could be ascertained (as with any theory).
The idea was only rejected initially (along with continental drift, where it originated), because there was no explanation as to why/how the continents would have split up and drifted apart from the super continent Pangaea. This was of course before it was discovered that continents "float" on magma that spreads out in opposite directions at fissures in the earth's mantle.
Alfred Wegener's famous theory was that all of the continents joined together to form one large super-continent; Pangea.
One. The supercontinent called Pangaea.
His theory is that all the continents were connected and made a super continent called Pangaea then eventually the moving of tectonic plates over the millions of years caused the continents moves apart.
Albert Wegener is a scientist who discovered that the continents move, to form a super continent pangea. His findings weren't proven until after his death.
The continental drift theory is the theory that once all of the continents were joined in a super-continent, which scientists call Pangaea. Over a vast period of time, the continents drifted apart to their current locations.
If you put all of the Continents together they form one big thing, and they seem to fit just like a jigsaw puzzle,Scientist seem to believe that there was one big super Continent that was called Pangea
I can't figure it out, I'm in sixth grade, and I am doing a crossword puzzle, I think it's Alfred Wegner too, but that doesn't fit, please help:{
The Continental Drift Theory in 1912 Pangaea is believed to be a giant super-continent that existed before the continents drifted apart from each other.
