My cousin (now over 70 years old) grew up in Waco and she was just telling me about AY Mitchell's minnow vat ("minnavat"). (I am an Yankee, and had never heard of a minnow vat). She says it was called simply "AY Mitchell's Store." It was a convenience store on the way to Lake Waco, on Hillcrest Drive where Hillcrest and Lake Air come together now, with aa minnow vat and sold fishing tackle, etc. It had a gumball machine for a penny and you got a gumball and a trinket. It also had a Coke machine and a Coke cost a nickle. After it was AY Mitchell died, they sold the store and it was called "Crestwood Grocery."
