Harper Lee named her magnificent book To Kill a Mockingbird because Atticus and Miss Maudie said that was a sin to kill a mocking bird, because all they ever do is make sweet music for us to enjoy.

Lee's original title was always To Kill a Mockingbird.

Well, "To Kill a Mockingbird" is a sin as Atticus tells Jem and Scout in the book, he says the reason is because all they do is sing their hearts out for us so there is no reason to kill them, its a symbol of innocence, they do nothing but sing so why kill them, theyve done no harm. Tom Robinson is an example of the symbol of innocence..he was innocent of raping Mayella Ewell but he lost the case since it was his word againts two white peoples. He was innocent but they sent him to jail anyways.. this is one of the reasons where the book got its name.

To Kill a Mockingbird was originally going to be called Atticus.

It is a novel by Harper Lee published in 1960. It was immediately successful, winning the Pulitzer Prize, and has become a classic of modern American literature. The plot and characters are loosely based on the author's observations of her family and neighbors, as well as on an event that occurred near her hometown in 1936, when she was 10 years old.

Explination of title To Kill a Mockingbird?

Very metaphorical. A mockingbird is an animal that does nothing wrong, isn't harmful, is innocent. In that sense, Tom Robinson is a mockingbird and so is Boo Radley. They haven't done anything wrong. They're innocent. So it's a great sin to kill a mockingbirdor basically, to kill an innocent being.
