Well the bridge originally was made to be suitable for the people living on the other side of the bridge to build convenience for them. Though this happened the Construction Builder and Designer John Bradfeild made the descision to expand the bridge to make more room for the future generations to come. Many people thought it was crazy but it was definately a success as it is now packed carrying over 10,000 people daily! Maybe it needs to be wider.... So the original configuration was three to four lanes and now it is five to six.
