Like a protective mother; Gaea defied her consort Ouranos who had imprisoned her elder sons (Hecatoncheires, Kyklopes) in her womb so helped Cronus overthrow Ouranos - but Cronus did not free his brothers, and a prophesy was made that one of Cronus's children would overthrow him as he had overthrown his father so he swallowed Hestia, Hades, Hera, Poseidon, and Demeter until Rhea sought help from Gaea with saving Zeus, which she did- when Zeus grew up and overthrew his father he released his uncles, Gaea's sons, and when the Titan war began they aided him in that the Kyklopes made weapons and the Hecatoncheires fought for Zeus as well. The Titan's than were imprisoned, which Gaia was not happy with Zeus about and so she bore the Gigantes to fight aginst Zeus - those who stood with him and helped him win were titled Olympians.
