Raja Birbal was one of the trusted ministers of Akbar and also one of his Navratnas. He was famous for his intelligence. His real name was Mahesh Das. Akbar bestowed on him the title of Raja Birbal, which means 'Brave and mighty Raja'. He was also a poet and was given the title of Kavi Priya by Akbar. He joined Akbar's Din-i-Ilahi.
