What was the primary reason for the invention of basketball?
(James Naismith) - The Innventor Needed an indoor activity for the winter... which was BASKETBALL! :)
In 1892, women's basketball was introduced at Smith College in Massachusetts. The invention of basketball is credited to James Naismith, a Canadian coach, in 1891, who wrote the first rulebook for the sport. Senda Berenson, a teacher at Smith, modified the rules for women and taught basketball classes.
