∙ 14y agoThe main purpose of a pyramid was to help the dead pharaohs join the gods in the sky. It was the burial place of the pharaohs.
The tomb was normally in the middle of the pyramid. According to Egyptian mythology, the top point of the pyramid (sometimes called the apex) was pointing exactly up. That would help the pharaohs go straight to the gods, with no question as to which direction.
