Stutthof (near Danzig, Gdansk) was a punishment and forced labour concentation camp, set up mainly for Poles. It acquired a large number of sub-camps and had a very high death toll.

From June 1944 the camp was also used for mass gassings.

At the end of the war about 12 of the guards were caught trying to flee to Germany. They were tried and most of them were convicted and publicly hanged in July 1946.
