Hitler wanted to take over many European nations for the benefit of the Aryan peoples (Germans and other) so they could have more land and resources Germany did not have. He went after Poland first, not to start a world war, but to gain what he wanted and to eliminate Poles and Jews, whom he hated. Hitler was stupid.
