The Wilkinson Home for Boys was, in fact a real place, but that was not the name of it.
the book was way more detailed. The movie was good, but it missed so many important details that were said in the book. For example, in the book, it mentioned Sandy(Sodapop's girlfreind), and Mickey Mouse(Sodapop's horse), which were very important details in the book, and the movie missed it completely!! THe movie didnt metion sandy and mickey mouse AT ALL, which was a really important detail that thay missed. There were some unecessary scenes as well, and some of the characters did not match the descriptions in the book. For exmaple, Dally was described as having blonde hair, elfish face, blue eyes, and pointy ears. in the movie, he came out having brown hair, black eyes, and no pointy ears! they missed dally's character completely! and in the book soda was described as super star handsome and blonde, but in the movie, He was NOT superstar handsome and WAS NOT blonde! The book was so much better than the movie!!! If the movie did not miss so much detail that was needed, it would have been a really good film!!
Read the book. Then watch the movie. The movie is WAY better! Both the book and the movie have its own charm. The book has the irony in all the remarks by Goodman who claims to be abridging a real novel. (He is the true author) A lot of quotes from the book are in the movie, but the movie is not word for word. The movie and book are both well done, and it would not hurt to read the book and watch the movie.
The Outsiders movie and The Outsiders book are both alike and different in many ways. The movie adaptation was made in 1983. The book was first published in the 1967. One way is that the book starts off with Ponyboy leaving the movie theaters, while the movie starts off with him walking through town with Johny and Dally. Another is that the book is in first person point of view. The movie isn't narrated, so it is not in first person point of view. Also, in the book, Sodapop and Dally are supposed to be blonde, but in the movie they are both brunettes. In the movie, the church wasn't on a hill. In the book, the church was on the top of a hill in Windrixville. Even though the book and movie are different, they are alike in many ways as well. The movie has all of Pony's gang members, Soda, Darry, Johny, Dally, Two-bit, Steve, and Pony, just like the book. Both Dally and Johny die in both the movie and the book.
the different is that the book is not good and the movie is better.
