If you mean just "old-fashioned" Egyptology than no one really knows. Why would the cat goddess and the jackal-headed god of mummy stuff ever hang out?

Bast is the ancient Egyptian goddess of the sun (originally), the moon (after the Greeks), cats, women, and secrets. Anubis is the ancient Egyptian god of mummification, and the dead on their path through the underworld.
Bast is sometimes said to be the mother of Anubis; (most likely a pun on the ointment jars that comprise her hieroglyphs -- the same jars that were used during the embalming process Anubis was lord of). She is also sometimes told to be his wife. Ra is also told to be the father of Bast, and the father of Anubis.
The Ancient Egyptians had many gods and goddesses. They also believed in an afterlife. Their gods and goddesses included Isis, Osiris, Anubis, Bastet, etc.
