On the 19th April 1587 Sir Francis Drake entered the harbor of Cadiz on the Spanish coast and led a per-emptive strike on the Spanish fleet, destroying a number of ships (20-30) and their supplies, and causing the planned Spanish attack on England to be postponed for over a year. Drake referred to this successful attack as "Singeing the King of Spain's beard".
Singeing the King of Spain's Beard happened in 1587-07.

He grew his beard because he wanted to copy his great rival, King Francis the First of France, who made him jealous when he became a King, because he was even younger and more athletic than Henry VIII.
In 1535, King Henry VIII of England, who wore a beard himself, introduced a tax on beards. The tax was a graduated tax, varying with the wearer's social position.
Generally, the first process of fabric pretreatment is singeing, especially for the fabric of natural fiber, as cotton\flax etc., they all need singeing to wipe redundant fibers which are nonuniform on the fabric, this process will make the fabric looks more glossy, and make the grain line more clear. Singeing can benefit dyeing and printing, it can also cut the yarn end and confused yarn. Singeing & mercerization technique is a high-tech in 1990s. The high count pure cotton yarn will become more smooth and breathable after singeing. Then the fabric will keep the pure cotton characteristics and got the better glossiness after mercerizing, it can give you the pure cotton character and silk feeling. By yulong tex
Answer In recent history, King George V, reigned 1910 to 1936, had a full beard and Moustache (that's the British spelling), as did his predecessor, King Edward VII, who reigned from 1901 to 1910. King Charles II, reigned 1649 to 1685, is portrayed clean shaven and with a moustache but no beard and his predecessor, Charles I, 1625 to 1649 had a beard and moustache. There is at least one portrait of Charles I's predecessor - James I - with a beard and moustache. He reigned from 1603 to 1625. His predeccessor was Queen Elizabeth I, who had neither moustache nor a beard!

The story also features the princess's father, the king, who is frustrated by his daughter's behavior and orchestrates her marriage to the gruff king as a lesson. These characters drive the narrative, exploring themes of pride, humility, and the transformation of relationships.
