Conventional teachings say celtic languages, but this has recently been challenged. Some people content that Pre Old English was present in England before the Angles, Saxons, Jutes, etc. arrived.

∙ 7y agoThere were Celtic languages, whose descendants are Welsh, Cornish, Breton and the different forms of Gaelic. There was Latin during the Roman occupation, and then there were Old Norse and the Saxon dialects that became Old English.
