Poseidon is the son of Rhea and Cronus. In most accounts he is swallowed by Cronus at birth but later he and his brother (Hades) and sisters(Hera, Demeter, Hestia) were saved by Zeus when he forced Cronus to vomit up his siblings), However in some versions of the story, he as well as his brother Zeus were not eaten by Cronus. He was saved by his mother Rhea Poseidon was raised in secret by the Telchines. After being rescued by Zeus, Poseidon joined Zeus and Hades in overthrowing their father Cronus. The three brothers then divided the universe among themselves by drawing lots. Zeus received the sky, and Poseidon received the seas and any other body of water & Hades received the underworld. It was said that Poseidon rode the waves in a chariot drawn by golden sea horses.
He used his trident not only to provoke earthquakes and create mighty storms but also to create new land by raising the sea floor or cause existing land to sink below the waves.
Although he is depict as a helpful god by protecting sailors at sea, guiding ships to safety during storms & filling nets with fish, he could also be a terrifying figure, Quick to rage he directed his fury at anyone who acted against him or failed to show the proper respect.

The myth of Athena vs Poseidon symbolizes the competition between intelligence and strength. Through this story, it can be interpreted that cleverness and wisdom are more valuable than brute force. It serves as a reminder that intelligence and strategy can triumph over sheer power.

There is no story of his birth. We simply know he was born to Kronos and Rhea...and then Kronos ate him...
In ancient Greece the Gods and Goddess' explained what the ancients could not. Poseidon explained why the sea has hurricanes, etc.
well Poseidon is Athena's uncle and the story is that they both both wanted be the gods of Athens (even though Athena found it) so they made the people chose and they Athena won over Poseidon because she made the olive tree and Poseidon made a water horse or a fountain ( I'm not so sure but if you want the full story you should read Percy Jackson) (in order or you won't understand!) -Claudia
Odysseus blinds the Cyclops, which is Poseidon's son, so Poseidon makes the rest of the trip very hard for Odysseus...
In Greek mythology, Poseidon, the god of the sea, was Zeus's brother. An 'allusion' is a reference to something else. So, a poseidon allusion would be a reference, probably in a story or movie, to something about the sea or directly to Poseidon. For example, the 2006 movie called Poseidon was about an ocean liner named Poseidon meeting it's untimely demise - this is a direct allusion to Poseidon (the Greek god). Also, there is a scuba equipment manufacturer called Poseidon, Inc. Again, this is a direct Poseidon allusion.
To learn about Poseidon (and the other gods and goddesses too) read all the Percy Jackson series by Rick Riordan. Everything you need to know about all the gods and goddesses including Poseidon in these books!!!!
