The German chancellor, Prince Max Von Baden, sent delegates to France and signed an agreement on November 11, 1918 which was the first step towards ending the war. However the Versailles Treaty on June 28. 1919, was the peace treaty by which the World War I came to an end.
The Treaty of Versailles did not prevent war but rather provoked war. World War 1 led to World War 1 because of that treaty and the venom the Germans held toward that treaty.
