You are aware that unlike Pearl Harbor, the American bombing of Hiroshima and Nagasaki was an attack on civilians, yeah? -------------------- Pearl Harbor as any base, house many civilians.
America dropped Atomic Bomb onto the Japanese city of Nagasaki was because, during World War 2, Nagasaki was the largest sea port in South Japan, so this was a key area where the Japanese got it Military Equipment and food resources, along with other supplies. Also, with Hiroshima, at some point during the war, American sources suspected that the city had a Military Space, which was worth targeting however, this wasn't true but Hiroshima did have a Military base. Also, during the war, In north of Nagasaki, there was a camp, which held British Commonwealth POW's.
The war to which you referred was World War II. The dropping of the atomic bombs on Hiroshima and Nagasaki ended World War II.
Yes. Hiroshima was a military strong point or a military base according to President Truman. This was a preposterous statement. In fact, almost all of the victims were civilians. We all know that Hiroshima and Nagasaki were chosen as targets because of their concentration of activities and population. Since Japan didn't surrender right away, another bomb was dropped in Nagasaki.
If you are referring to "the" bombs, it sounds like you're referring to the two "Atomic" bombs that were dropped on the city of Hiroshima on 06 August 1945, and Nagasaki on 09 August 1945, thus ending WWII. If your referring to the Battle of Iwo Jima (where the US flag was raised), bombs and naval guns pounded that whole island.
Hiroshima was selected as a target for the atomic bombing because it was a major industrial and military hub for Japan, with a large population. It had a significant military base and was a center for manufacturing and transportation. Additionally, the city had been largely untouched by previous bombing raids, making it a prime candidate for a more impactful strike.
JAPAN attacked the base. That is when the U.S. entered WW2...the U.S. attacked Nagasaki and Hiroshima with the atomic bombs Big Boy and Fat Man.
The war for the US began December 7, 1941 with the Japanese bombing of the naval base at Pearl Harbor and Army Air base at Ford Field. The IUS responded immediately by declaring war against the Empire of Japan and their ally Nazi Germany. The war ended in Europe May 7, 1945. The Japanese surrendered on the deck of the USS Missouri on September 2, 1945, after the dropping of the atomic bombs on Hiroshima and Nagasaki.
The Japanese bombed the American naval base of Pearl Harbour in 1944, arguably bringing the USA into WW2 and most likely leading to the bombing of Nagasakki and Hiroshima as revenge.
The United States dropped atomic bombs on the Japanese cities of Hiroshima and Nagasaki. Both targets were military (Hiroshima contained a significant military HQ, and Nagasaki a substantial naval base). However, the target cities were also chosen to show off the massive amount of damage the atomic bomb could produce, which inevitably meant causing huge numbers of civilian deaths.
Nagasaki was an ammo and ship supply and base.
Nagasaki (Japan), 9 August 1945: bombarded by Americans, but the purpose was to frighten the Russians and to manifest racism against Asiatic peoples; Japan was already exhausted, no need for nuclear bombardments !
