Many different times until Emperor Constantine became a Christian in 312 AD. One of the worst persecutions was around 202 AD under Emperor Septimus Severus
christians were hated for there belief in god by the romans who believed in rulers such as kings and many christians were killed for there belief
The Romans hated everyone who would not worship their idols. Since Christians did not worship idols, [and since the Romans had Jesus (whom Christians regard as God in human form) crucified], the Romans sent many Christians into the arena to be killed for sport and entertainment.
they beat, killed, and burned most of the romans. they also fed them to lions to get eaten.
The Romans were okay with the Jewish nation, but as for Christians, they killed as many as they could, by way of having a lion eat them in a Roman Colosseum, or by having them hanged or burned at the stake, etc.
Uh no. That's why they killed Jesus. They didn't like anyone worshiping anyone other than their king or their gods. The Romans usually killed Christians by stoning them to death or by hanging them on the cross. I don't think they started to treat Christians nicely until almost half their population became Christian. Hope that helps in History. :0)
The ancient Romans typically absorbed the deities and religions of the people they took over, since they perceived that this helped the government remain stable. In 64 AD, however, issues with judaism and the sole god became an issue with the Romans. Nero scapegoated the Christians as causing the Great Fire of Rome and from then on, persecutions of Christians and Jews continued until about the 300s. There were areas where Christians were accepted, and there was no issue.
Christians believed that Jesus was the king of the Jews; a treasonous thought. Christians denounced what they felt were the sinful ways of the Romans.
Christians:)
Umm. Christians?
In legends, St. George killed a dragon, which is probably a bit of an exaggeration. However, he was martyred for defending Christians against the Romans.
No they were Romans.
The Romans told the Christians to worship their Ceasar, but the Chrisitans said that they should only worship God and Jesus......so that made the Romans really angry.
