What was there prior to the creation of the universe?

Christian perspectiveThe Bible account starts with the creation of our universe. "In the beginning, God created the heavens and the earth"(Genesis 1:1). It tells us nothing about what existed before this particular creation. True science has shown us that matter comes from energy, and God is the SOURCE of all energy (Isaiah 40:26). It was from him that all matter came.

EVERYthing we humans are familiar with, has/had a beginning, but from the Bible's account, we know that God is different. He, alone, has ALWAYS been(Psalms 90:2), so if nothing else, GOD was there prior to the creation of the universe. And since he is ALWAYS working(John 5:17), he undoubtedly had things he was working on, but at this

point, we just don't know what they were.

Scientific perspectiveAt the Big Bang, all of the energy in the universe existed at a 'singularity'. Space and time did not exist - they were started as a result of the Bang. Because of the nature of that point, no information exists from prior to it. Indeed, such information is impossible, and we thus cannot and will not ever know what happened or existed "before" it.
