There were a number of economic causes of the American Revolution. Here is a summation of the main ones:

* Colonial industrialists and merchants were hurt by the British mecantile system which they believed hampered trade and prosperity. Under that system, the focus was to enrich England at the expense of her colonies such as the American 13;

* Plantation owners and frontiersmen/explorers, wanted to gain land by moving westward. British policies did not accomadate such movements to the West;

* The stamp tax and other taxes slowed economic growth in the 13 American colonies; and

* Import taxes lowered the cost of living for all colonists.
