Excedrin is a pain reliever, which of course contains aspirin as well as a few other chemicals. It is commonly used to treat severe headaches and migraines. There are several different types of Excedrin that the company Novartis makes.

The issue which you may be referring to was probably the 2012 recall that Novartis made in response to certain packaging issues where broken or mislabeled pills were found in the container. Additionally, Excedrin, like any medicine containing aspirin can cause extensive damage to the liver (hepatoxic) when taken with alcohol.
