Brown Mantidfly (Climaciella brunnea)
A praying mantis, like all insects, has six legs.
A praying mantis is classified as an insect, which means it has six appendages.
The praying mantis does have claw-like legs. The praying mantis is known as one of the highest formidable predators in the animal kingdom. The claws are not actual referred to as claws but as raptorial legs.
It is "Praying Mantis", because the mantis frequently holds its front legs up and pressed together in front of it, like a person praying.
A praying mantis is a type of carnivorous insect that ambushes smaller insects. They are named for holding their front legs in a way that make it look like they are praying.
In Nepal an ancient king named Quone pellein thought they looked like they were praying when he found them in the mountains in 1675
A praying mantis is a green insect with long stick-like body and very thin legs. It gets its name from its signature pose which makes the praying mantis appear like it is praying.
They are not related but are similar in obvious ways like they have 6 legs.
The body of a mantis is divided into three parts: the abdomen, head, and thorax. The praying mantis' head has two antennae, compound eyes, and a mouth, These insects also have six jointed legs, two forelegs, and wings.
The praying mantis is an insect with six legs and no wings, so it walks. -Mostly wrong. The mantis walks on four legs, while the other two "legs" are more like arms that he uses to grasp and kill prey, though it can help with movement like climbing things. Some breeds of mantis DO have wings, though it's usually the males that can only fly. http://www.dheconsl.net/praying_mantis.jpg
Like most insects, the praying mantis is cold-blooded.
The praying mantis produces an egg pouch that it puts on a leaf somewhere so it would get about as pregnant as a hen that lays eggs.I just had a female lay her egg sack. it was really cool to watch. we knew when we found her on my door. She was moving real slow and her belly was dragging. She wouldn't hardly eat the crickets that we got for her now when I woke up this morning 10/30/10 she was making her egg sack in the aquarium that we had her in. It was really cool to see this. Now she is skinny and moving pretty fast.
