There are seven electromagnetic waves; radio waves, microwaves, infrared, visible light, ultraviolet, X rays, and gamma rays. Radio waves are transmitted through radios (duh) and TVs. They have wavelengths greater than 0.001 meters. Cell phones use microwaves, which have wavelengths between 0.3 and 0.001 meters. Infrared waves come from (not so sure about this one) light bulbs and have wavelengths between 0.001 meters and 700 nanometers. Visible light (don't know exactly where it comes from, sorry) have wavelengths between 700 and 400 nanometers. Ultraviolet waves cause sunburn and have wavelengths between 400 and 10 nanometers. You should know where X rays come from and they have wavelengths between 10 and 0.01 nanometers. (Sorry for not including Gamma rays, I didn't have enough information on them). You can choose two of these seven and add the information if you want.

Is the light from an incandescent lamp monochromatic?

No, an incandescent bulb i.e. a bulb that emits light by the generation of heat, emits white light and is therefore not monochromatic. For a source to be monochromatic, the light emitted must be of a single wavelength.

What is the wave length of a 25 watt incandescent light bulb?

Since white light is emitted from an incandescent bulb, it contains all wavelengths in the visible light spectrum between 400 to 700nm. It also emits wavelengths in the infrared region.

Why does an incandescent light bulb produce a continuous spectrum that seems to favor red?

Actually the peak of the radiation from an incandescent light bulb is in the near infrared, not the visible spectrum. The visible light that you see is the falling upper sideband of this: very strong in the red and declining until it is weak in the blue and violet end with a very small amount of radiation in the ultraviolet. The lower sideband extends across the infrared and into the far infrared. Well under a third of the emitted electromagnetic radiation of an incandescent light bulb is visible light, most is infrared.

What is the name for a regular light bulb?

incandescent

Does a 25 watt light bulb draw more current than a 60 watt light bulb?

No, a higher wattage INCANDESCENT light bulb uses more current than a lower wattage INCANDESCENT light bulb. Some CF and LED bulbs are rated by the amount of light that an incandescent bulb would produce, but they are also rated by the wattage that they use.

Use incandescent in a sentence?

i do not want an incandescent bulb.

What is another word for incandescent?

An incandescent bulb wastes electricity.

What kind of waves do heat lamps give off?

A little more heat and a little less light than a regular incandescent light bulb.

Can I get an LED light installed into my incandescent downlight cans?

Yes, absolutely. As long as the LED bulb and incandescent bulb have the same base they will both fit the socket. The LED bulb will also run much cooler than the original incandescent bulb.

What is the lumen output of a 60W incandescent bulb?

The output of bulbs varies. A typical output of a 60W incandescent bulb is 680 lumens.

What is incandescent light bulb?

An incandescent light bulb, incandescent lamp or incandescent light globe is an electric light which produces light with a wire filament heated to a high temperature by an electric current passing through it, until it glows.

What did Thomas Edison name the light bulb?

He named his invention the Incandescent Lamp, But it's commonly referred to today as the Incandescent Light Bulb.

Why light emitted by a bulb is yellowish in colour but from a fluroscent tube is white?

You are seeing the spectrum of the metal used in a light bulb. In a florescent tube you are seeing ultraviolet light being transformed into visible light by the internal phosphor coating.
