It will bolt in with exception to the 383 exhaust "Y" pipe. However I remember some of those 383 and 440's had different crankshafts between the standard and the automatics. The crankshaft was machined deeper to accept the standard transmission input shaft. Be sure to check the back of the crankshaft on that 440 and to also install a pilot bushing/bearing.
Its the normal right handed thraed... It IS torqued to about 120 ft lbs though... You may need to wedge the flexplate/flywheel to keep from spinning the entire rotating assembly when you try to loosen it.

A big block Chrysler (Dodge) 440, or even a Hemi would bolt in, with the appropriate engine mounts.
The biggest engine available based on cubic inches was the 440 C.I. However, the engine with the most available horsepower was the 426 Hemi.
Don't have time for jokes, but the last time I looked they went on the spark plugs.

7.2 liters = 439.370957 cubic inches This is commonly called a 440 but Chevy has never built a 440.This is a Chrysler engine. Are you sure it is a 7.2 Liter? Could it bea 7.4 Liter which is a 454?
