The operator's manual for a 3020 should state which weights of oil should be used in specific temperatures. Generally a 30# oil should be used in the summer and a 10# oil in the winter. A Multi-weight oil such as 15W-40 can also be used in all seasons.
15W-40 diesel oil is typically used as a 'default'. If you operate in a particularly severe climate, you might have to use a heavier or lighter weight oil. If it's a 2008 or newer model year, you need to use engine oil which has API CJ-4 certification.
The manufacturer recommended 10W-30 weight oil in the 1979 Chevrolet Corvette. A heavier weight oil can be used in and older engine.
5w-30. Maybe 10w-30 if the climate is hot. No more than a 30 weight because of the tight clearences in the engine. A 40 weight will retard performance. A 20 weight will not protect your engine in the long run. As far as what brand of oil, the best brand of oil is the one that you change with your filter every 3-5000 miles. I have read countless used oil analysis and virgin oil analysis reports on hundreds of oils and that is the best and most honest answer proven.
5W30 weight. Mobil, gastroll, Kendell are all good brands to use.
