We need to know from what.
The Black Hills are in the southwestern part of South Dakota. Mount Rushmore is located in Black Hills, South Dakota.
North Dakota and South Dakota were both part of the Dakota Territory. The Dakota Territory was split into the states of North Dakota and South Dakota when President Benjamin Harrison signed proclamations in Washington, DC, on November 2, 1889, formally admitting both North Dakota and South Dakota to the union. President Harrison had the papers shuffled so that no one would know which proclamation was signed first.
At the time it was called Dakota Territory. Today, we know it as South Dakota.
i don't know that why i asked
History will never know. President Harrison signed the 1889 legislation "in the blind" so they would never know which was the first state admitted. North Dakota is state number 39 and South Dakota ranks as number 40 based on alphabetical order.
South Dakota.... really?... how did u not know that...
south dakota.... really?... how did u not know that...
The compound noun South Dakota is a proper noun, the name of a specific place.
No one knows, when President Benjamin Harrison signed the bills admitting these states into the Union, he never said which he signed first, but we do know that he signed them on November 2, 1889.
South Dakota is closer to Canada than a lot of places are, but it doesn't border Canada. There are many US states that border Canada, so they are clearly closer to it than South Dakota, which doesn't. South Dakota is, however, closer to Canada than Florida is, for instance. South Dakota is also closer to Canada than it is to Mexico or England or South Africa. I'm not certain the intent of this question, but you might wish to clarify so that someone can answer more specifically what you need to know.
No South Dakota does not have any fault lines!!! I beg to differ. I live in SD and I know for a fact that we have fault lines that do produce small earthquakes from time to time.
