Ghandi had many motivations to improve his overall goal, sacrafice. "If a man were to shun all selfishness, he must be prepared to sacrafice courage." A famous quote by Ghandi that explains why he did what he did. He explains that selfishness and courge (a positive and a negative) make a negative overall.
