One of his goals was to expose fake readers and psychics. In his time there were a lot of fake psychics that were very popular and had national attention. He made it his business to expose them as fake. This was very important to him. One interesting thing about him is that he must have believed there was life after death because he told his wife that if he could return after he died he would. They even set up a code so she could tell it was him. Every year on the anniversary of his death his wife did have a seance to try to contact him. Nothing ever came from it.
