The whole teaching was called the Sermon on the Mount because Jesus taught from a mountainside with people sat around him.

Within this Sermon, there were a group of simple 'sayings' which all began with "Blessed are...." - for example, "Blessed are the meek, for they shall inherit the earth". These are known as 2The Beatitudes"
