In Q309, the Digital Cable TV market was still dominated by CJ Cablenet with 770.600 digital subscribers followed by C&M, HCN, KDMC and Qrix. HCN takes the third place to KDMC this quarter.

KDMC has the largest subscriber base with 2.825.000 cable customers, but its digitization is very low (9.1%) unlike CJ Cablenet or C&M. Korean Cable TV market has near 15 million subscribers, with a digitization rate of 16%.

These figures remain stable in Cable TV industry, the competiton in Korea is coming from IPTV which now can broadcast real time IPTV. It is a real threat for Cable operators, the increasing bandwidth in Korea allows IPTV actors to offer high quality services. IPTV subscribers reached 1 million subscribers after just 9 months, these figures will probably exceed digital cable tv subscribers.
