Pigs were introduced to America by Spanish explorers in the early 16th century during the Columbian Exchange. They were first brought to the Caribbean islands and later introduced to mainland North and South America.
Some of the new tools that European explorers used during their explorations included compasses for navigation, astrolabes for determining latitude, maps for charting their course, and improved ship designs like caravels for better handling and speed. They also utilized new weaponry like firearms for protection and establishing dominance in encounters with indigenous peoples.
Explorers such as Christopher Columbus and Ferdinand Magellan used a quadrant, a navigational instrument, to measure the altitude of celestial bodies like the sun or stars to determine their position at sea. This helped them navigate and map their way during their explorations.

Samuel de Champlain, a French explorer, did not find any gold during his explorations in North America. He is known for founding Quebec City in 1608 and for his explorations of the St. Lawrence River and the Great Lakes region. While he did not discover gold, his explorations were crucial in establishing French colonies in the region and furthering European exploration of North America.
Both areas were new to European explorers.
When Spanish explorers arrived in North America during the 1500s, they encountered thriving indigenous civilizations. Eventually the Spanish would come to oppress and subjugate these people for their own selfish needs.
