I think that you are asking about reductions, but please note that the Spanish never sought to "impose" the Catholic faith. They sought to convert the native American peoples, which is an entirely different thing. Also, they were not actually that successful until the Queen of Heaven, herself, took a hand in spreading the message of Christianity. See pages 636-640 of Warren H.
