How early do you expect? We were there at the beginning. "Canada" as a nation did not exist until Confederation in 1867, and that is when Nova Scotia officially changed from a colony of Britain to a province of Canada. The other "original" provinces were New Brunswick, Quebec and Ontario.
Wrong. First, Ontario did not exist as such until Confederation. Second, that part of the Province of Canada which had formerly been Upper Canada (and which formed the basis of today's Ontario) had the most to gain from Confederation and was the strongest supporter of Confederation. Third, although all provinces have benefited from Confederation, it is probably fair to say that Ontario has benefited the most from Confederation.
Spain joining Canadian Confederation? What planet are you on?
Confederation
1st of all, they were more interested in their ties with Britain and the queen. 2nd, the CPR would not extend to them. 3rd, being far away from the government in Ontario, they would not have much say in matters
Confederation was risky as it had small colonies joining with the very much larger province of Canada (today's Ontario and Quebec). History has shown those concerns to be valid as today Canada is moving from a Confederation in which each Nation is equal to a Federation dominated by the most populous provinces.
They started confederation i think my bro .. lol (:
Ontario joined Confederation because of political deadlock.
Ontario Provincial Confederation of Regions Party was created on 1989-04-26.
The most important was that the union with Nova Scotia, Québec, and Ontario, protected them of an eventual attack by the United States. Remembering that they were Empire Loyalists, who had previously been kicked out of the United States along with those in Ontario.
