If you're talkint about space missions, Neil Armstrong only had 2. On March 16, 1966, He was the Commander of the Gemini 8 mission, in which he performed the first docking in space. Following the docking, the 2 vehicles began "tumbling end over end". The tumbling motion cause Armstrong and his co-pilot, Dave Scott to almost pass out in space. Had that happened, then both men would have died. Instead, Armstrong managed to stop the spin under very dangerous circumstances. It was his actions during the Gemini 8 flight that led him to being selected as one of the first men to attempt a lunar landing.

That attempt came on the afternoon of July 20, 1969 when Armstrong and Buzz Aldrin piloted Apollo 11 to the first manned landing on the moon.
