difficult, but with advantages if you remember the north had factories, transportation, access to Canada, and had a bigger population. But the capital was ever so close to the confedertes. this was a disadvantage because the confedrate could get lucky in one battle and over through the government. union soldier could also be fighting agians his friends, or family.
