By far the largest problem that Farnsworth had was the fact that someone else invented the television and demonstrated the first working system three years before he did.

John Logie Baird, a Scottish engineer living in London built and tested the world's first fully operational television in the early 1920s and demonstrated it in London in March 1925. Farnsworth didn't have his version operating until 1928.

However, Farnsworth did produce the first fully electronic television just one year later in 1929. This was the first television to operate with no moving parts.
