The main thing is, name many people advised Truman to use the atomic bomb, and many also advised against it. There wasn't one individual who advised against the bomb, it was a whole group of individuals.

The city of Hiroshima, Japan and over a hundred thousand people were killed or wounded. Some died later from the radiation exposure, burns and injuries. Thousands died later from Cancer.
Some people think it was, others argue that it was not.
A lot of people died due to contact to the temperature of the explosion. Some of the people who lived after the explosion died due to radiation poisoning. The amount of deaths due to the atomic bomb was around 360,000 when we dropped the atomic bombs on Hiroshima and Nagasaki. To sum it up, the effects were devestating.
The first atomic bomb was engineered in WWII, not the Cold War. The Hydrogen Bomb was a Cold War Weapon.
