There were more than two battles. However if somebody had to choose two battles that were very important; I would personally choose The Battle of Fort Sumter (the first one) and The Battle of Gettysburg. Although causations for the war are controversial, most believe that it was the attack on Fort Sumter that escalated a full scale war. Gettysburg was a turning point in the war being that it is often referred to as the most bloody battle. Gettysburg would also demoralize much of the Confederacy. Gettysburg would also bring General Lee's northern invasion to an end.
