Ownership and complete control of the land they lived on. It was simple theft and genocide. Even today this is an issue as much aboriginal land is worth a fortune to greedy mining company's

Another major result the Europeans were trying to achieve was the removal of all traces of aboriginal culture. By dispossessing the Aborigines of their land, they effectively forced them onto reserves, for their own protection. This gave the white settlers greater control over the indigenous people and, in their own eyes, the right to remove the aboriginal children from their homes.

Their sense of white superiority dictated that that the indigenous people could not possibly look after their children or educate them in the right ways, and that Europeans could do a much better job. This wrongful attitude led to loss of culture, language and all that the Aborigines held and hold dear. The lack of contact between the children and the tribal elders meant that a vital link was lost in the passing down of their native heritage. Many aboriginal languages no longer exist.
