architecure and democratic government
I both agree and disagree, about different achievements.
People of the Renaissance looked at the achievements of the Greeks and Romans as inspiration for their work.
the achievements of Rome are very interesting. Their achievements would be doing their job how ever its suppose to be done. And one is how Julius Caesar conquered many lands in his time.
Ancient Romans were the first people to built the actual road system.
the romans concentrated on practical things that would improve the quality of their lives and help them to maintain a large empire.
The Romans built structures called triumphal arches to commemorate their military victories. Triumphal arches were typically decorated with reliefs and inscriptions depicting the conquests and achievements of Roman generals.
The use of the arch has to rank as one of the great achievements of Roman architecture and engineering, as they used the arch in their aqueducts and bridges in addition to other buildings. Their greatest achievement, in both these disciplines is the pantheon with its dome and oculus.
Very simply, by conquering the country that would eventually conquer over 1/3 of the face of the Earth, England.
Romans had many achievements in many different aspects. Their most important ones were probably their political powers in the ancient times. For a good amount of time they controlled all the land around the Mediterranean sea under the rule of military leaders that took office and pretty much became dictators. (Julius Caesar, Augustus). At the time these achievements were the most important especially to the Roman citizens themselves. Today, some historians argue that their technological advances were the Romans most significant achievements. Some of these include, but are not limited to, aqueducts, baths, arches, stadiums and other architecture, and their road systems.
In art the Romans had excellent sculpture, mosaics, frescoes and jewellery. In literature they wrote good drama, comedies and satires. Some Romans writers, such as Virgil, Ovid, Horace, and Terence influenced European literature for centuries after the decay of Roman civilisation.
The use of the arch and the dome were both used in architectural and engineering projects, such as innovative buildings and bridges and above ground aqueducts.
The Romans made significant contributions to western civilizations. Most noteworthy, they enhanced the spread of Christianity, and many people became believers of Christ. The Romans also introduced the concept of government where elected representatives in a democracy made rules as opposed to a reigning monarch.
