Relations between the Vatican and Hitler were, at best, icy. The Church tried to get a moratorium on the persecution of Catholics in the countries invaded by Hitler. Hitler would agree and the next day violate the treaty. Hitler planned to kidnap Pope Pius XII because he was continually criticizing the Nazis and working underground to thwart his persecutions of Christians as well as Jews. Hitler's plans were never fulfilled. Pius was well aware of Hitler's intentions and left a signed document that, should he be abducted, the Church must consider him as resigned from the papacy and were to immediately elect a new pope.
Archbishop Dominique Mamberti is the Secretary for Relations With States for Vatican City.
So you're doing question 6b in the Revvo book :) Hitler was a catholic, and put into power by the Vatican so that he would sign a concordat with them. From what I understand...the concordat (agreement) gave the vatican/roman catholics certain priveliges and protection. and so in return, the vatican gave support to Hitler. I could be wrong, but I think it's something along those lines.
Most probably because, if Hitler or the Nazi's invaded the Vatican city there would be a world wide backlash and retaliation from Roman Catholic Countries and other Christain Countries
Afghans and Germans are both Aryans and always had good relations. Afghans, just like Germans, have always hated Russia and Britain, so yes, Hitler and Afghans liked each other.
From the Wikipedia article on the Concordat: "Anthony Rhodes regarded Hitler's desire for a Concordat with the Vatican as being driven principally by the prestige and respectability it brought to his regime abroad whilst at the same time eliminating the opposition of the Centre party." But it was obvious from Hitler's behavior immediately following the signing that he had no intention whatsoever of abiding by it.
