I'm not sure "fight" is the right word. Then again, maybe it is. He was tempted and tortured by Satan for 40-days, felt human emotion like sorrow-pain-stress-etc, he was abandoned by his closest friends, rejected, mocked, beaten, spit on, and crucified like a criminal. So, I'm thinking it's actually the perfect word. Jesus fought for your salvation... and mine. John 3:16-17 reads, "For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life. For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but to save the world through him." Here's why...

Romans 6:23 reads, "For the wages of sin is death..." telling us that if we sin our punishment will be death - most believe this to be a spiritual death or hell. Romans 3:23 reads, "for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God" telling us that none of us are capable of earning our own salvation - in other words, we are all destined for eternal punishment in hell. God, being perfect, obviously knew this. So he sent his Son to save us. Here's how...

Hebrews 4:15 reads, "For we do not have a high priest who is unable to empathize with our weaknesses, but we have one who has been tempted in every way, just as we are - yet he did not sin." Jesus was the only who has or will ever live a PERFECT life - never sinning once. Therefore, he is also the only one who has or will ever earn salvation. But instead of just taking his salvation and returning to heaven to live happily ever after, he traded God his perfect life in exchange for our salvation. 1 John 2:2 reads, "He is the atoning sacrifice for our sins, and not only for ours but also for the sins of the whole world." See, he not only fought, but died for our salvation!

To receive this gift of salvation, here is what needs to happen...

1) Proclaim with your heart and mouth that Jesus is the one who has saved you and the one you will serve. (Romans 10:9)

2) Be baptized for the forgiveness of your sins and to receive the gift of the Holy Spirit (God's Spirit) who will live inside you and guide you through life. (Mark 16:16)

3) Repent by turning away from sin and beginning to live your life in a way that serves and obeys him. (Acts 2:38)

Jesus Christ advocated faith, love, and the Kingdom of God. He taught about God loving those who suffer, who are lost, who are big time sinners or small time sinners.

He exposed the hypocrisy prevalent in Israel when he lived there. He advocated eternal life being available, forgiveness being extended to those who repented and belief in him as the Son of God. He taught the world that evil acts from a simple lie to murder is no different in God's eyes. All sin hurts the God of love, light and absolute holiness *without sin.

He invited the world to come to know him who was the way, the truth and life. He did not present himself as a theologian, rabbi, pharisee or big time prophet. He was humble and came to show love to all. He had a ministry of healing not out of selfish motives but rather to show others he did have the power of God and he was linked to the Father God by virtue of being the Son of God.

There were times when he 'cryptically' told the Jewish leaders he was the Son of God and the Messiah. This upset these hypocritical people to the point that they chose to murder him by crucifixion. He came alive three days later so he showed them he had spoken the truth about his predictions of his death and the victory he had over sin and death. He came to extend forgiveness for the world and us individuals who place our faith in him.

I could provide you with a web link but the best source of learning what Jesus showed and taught and did for others by reading Matthew, Mark, Luke, John and the book of Acts in the New Testament of The Bible. There are plenty of modern language versions available in English so you do not have to read the King James Version only. See your local bible bookstore, church or Christian neighbor to obtain one. You can get a free one from the Gideons and churches.
