We have to use our imaginations a bit on this one. He must have used a quill pen because that's what they used then, and have written on a wooden desk or table because that's what they made furniture out of then. He lived as a boarder with various people but presumably he was able to get some peace and quiet in order to write. It is highly unlikely that Marlowe wrote Shakespeare's plays, for a number of reasons. First, for a while there, they were both writing, and their styles are different. Second, Marlowe died in 1593, when Shakespeare was at the very start of his career, and an awful lot of people would have to be inexplicably lying for a period of over twenty years for there to have been a conspiracy to cover up Marlowe's non-death. Finally, everybody at the time seems to have agreed that it was Shakespeare writing the plays and there is no coherent reason why we should doubt that.
